Last year I made a
cool-summer top for my Mom using a fun yarn that had a fresh color and some glitter to it. Weighing what I had left, I determined that I could make a small top, one with very short sleeves or none at all. I selected a clever pattern for a scoop neck top that I found years ago on knitty.com. It had been on my to-knit list and was just waiting for the right yarn and the inspiration.

I fell in love with the scoop neck (I think it is the most feminine type of neckline), and thought the buckle was a creative accessory. The way the garment is constructed is creative as well, and quite literally seamless (for those of us who like knitting more than we like sewing).
I slightly miscalculated and ended up running out of yarn to finish the neckline. So I had an unplanned change of color to make, but in the end, I like the result. The band at the neckline works just as well in a contrasting color. The only thing is that now I have added a small amount of white fingering weight silver glitter acrylic yarn to my stash.

My version. Of course it had to end up dressier. The fact that the top matches the wall color is an unfortunate coincidence |
The white band and a rhinestones buckle change the look of the top and make it fit for dressier occasions, though I can't guarantee that I won't go to bed one night and decide to wear this to teach class the next day.
