Skirts over the past 100 years

Recently, my Youtube feed finally figured out that I liked skirts and this video popped up
The video goes back to 1920 (because it's 2020 soon!) and features skirts since that time. Perhaps not so surprisingly, I have at least one skirt from each decade. The true vintage in my closet goes back to the 70's (in terms of skirts, I do have two dresses from the late 1960's, and one undated, sequined evening dress). But with recurring styles, I can push it back to the 1920's. Ready?

1920 - Full length pleats. I actually don't know how old that skirt is, it was a second hand store find. I love how warm it is (it's wool).

1930 - Tea length (mid-calf), in neutral tones. I got this skirt from an aunt in the 1980's. It is not clear how long it had been sitting in her closet before she gave it to me. I love the warmth (also wool), and the cut. It's a staple for winter teaching.

1940 - Embroidered Peasant skirt, A-line, knee-length. This is squarely a 2018 skirt, from an Indian ethnic shop in France. It's not embroidered but printed. I absolutely love the colors and the design, reminiscent of suns and stars (my astronomer's skirt!). I think knee-length is the sexiest when it comes to skirts.

1950 - Circle skirts with petticoats! I absolutely love full skirts, even if it's a little hard to pull off with my small frame. I got this skirt a couple summers ago from family in South Korea.

1960 - Short skirt in bold colors in plaid design. Red is all I could muster in my closet in terms of bold. This is another recent, Korean skirt.

1970 - Hobo skirt. I don't know what that means, this one happened to match the shape and length of skirts presented in the video. It could possibly be vintage 1970's. I bought it in a second hand store in the 1990's. It's wool, superbly cut and of high quality, considering how long it's held up. One of my favorite winter skirts.

1980 - Full pleats, floral, longer. This is a skirt from my teenage years. Indeed from the 1980's. It doesn't wrinkle (and even if it did, who would be able to tell?) and crosses from cool summer weather into early fall..

1990 - Flowy and floral. I am pretty sure this is vintage 1990's. I bought it in a second hand store in the 1990's. Still holding up, very nice light and easy summer skirt.

2000 - Denim mini-skirt with sparkles. And this one, being from South Korea also had to have butterflies, even for a grown woman. Indeed vintage 2000.

2010 - Asymmetrical hemline, ruffles. This is a skirt I knitted following a pattern from knitty.com years and years ago (before the style became a trend). The original pattern had an even hemline. The uneven hemline was my creation. I had just learned about short rows and wanted to see what the technique would give when used on a skirt.
