Sewing tutorial - Man style large shirt to feminine top Part 3

The cutting being done, I took the work to my sewing machine and stitched the shoulder seams. Then I baste stitched the upper back piece to the back panel by hand, with a contrasting thread, to see how the shirt hung. It hung perfectly so I sewed the two pieces together and top stitched, as it was originally.

At that point I did a fitting and decided two things:
- The back needs darts. I marked the location of my waist.
- Split sleeves will be the least fussy.

The next step was to finish ripping the seam that joined the sleeves to the body of the shirt in the back, down to the underarm seam. I pinned the sleeve back to the back of the shirt so that there was one continuous, smooth seamline, trimmed the excess and stitched. I mirrored on the other side.

The shirt being reassembled at this point, it was time for the finishing work:

- Hem the neckline
- Do the lacing in the front
- Create the darts in the back
- Create the slit sleeves
