My name is Agnès and I am a full time astrophysicist and part time knitter. This is my first blog. You might think that I should blog about important stuff like our universe, but many talented astronomers are doing that already so I thought I would start out with a blog on knitting.

I started knitting at age 8, when my Mom, desperate to find something to keep me busy during another one of my "Mom, I'm bored" bouts, gave me her knitting needles, a ball of blue yarn, and got me started on a garter stitch scarf. Wow, that was a lot of comas. And a long time ago.

Later, knitting became a hobby and then sort of a necessity, as I am what I like to call a mini-woman. In that respect, Korea is a great place to shop for cloths, but I get to do that about once a decade. So for the rest, I make my own. I am not quite talented enough to be sewing, so I knit my own cloths when I can (I have become OK at doing alterations on my own too).

I have been recording my designs in a lab book so I can refer back to it and either reproduce a piece or borrow the shaping for a different design. I have been toying with the idea of sharing my designs for some time now, thinking I would get to that when I retire. But the age of blogs is here and I figured that if I did so little by little, I could post my work.

Right now, I am working on a pair of warm socks for winter where I am following an already made pattern closely. Rather boring, but I plan nonetheless to post pictures and link to the pattern when I am done. I am also finishing up a cute little skirt suit. That will be my first major blog post. Pictures, instructions and everything. What I have in my lab book.

So stay tuned. I hope you can enjoy and/or use some of what I post on this blog.
