Winter socks

Finished a pair of winter socks, just in time for the first bout of fall weather here in Georgia. I followed this cute pattern from Knitty.com.

What makes this sock pattern really neat is that it is knitted back and forth on 2 needles and it is assembled as you knit, so there is very little finishing involved (no sewing!). It's just clever.

I used plain Red Heart sportweight yarn and smaller needles than the pattern calls for to get smaller socks. I also made them ankle high socks by starting with row 21 of the chart for the front leg and the back leg.

Using small needles makes a tighter, warmer weave and the coolest thing: The socks stand on their own. OK I am easily entertained. Give me a break, I live in a small town.
