(Most) of my knitting on a rack, readying for a week of wearing my home made wardrobe

I have been watching Youtube videos on capsule wardrobes and on sewing and DIY clothing. This gave me the idea to pull a capsule wardrobe out of my closet, one made up of things I have knitted over the years. This is the right season to do it, as a lot of my knitting is cold weather wear.

A capsule wardrobe is the idea of a small closet with a limited number of key pieces that fit well together and make it easy to put together a variety of outfits.

This is what I have. I am not including the few summer items I made, or any of the wealth of winter accessories. Also missing are two more ponchos and a shawl (they are in my office) as well as my teal blazer. I haven't lined the sleeves. It is ready to wear, however. I have not decided whether I will eventually line the sleeves or not.

All in all, my capsule wardrobe contains:

  • 1 long vest
  • 1 sleeveless tunic to layer
  • 2 dresses, one to layer
  • 3 long sleeve cardigans
  • 3 three quarter sleeve cardigans
  • 2 short sleeve cardigans
  • 5 sweaters
  • 2 short sleeve sweaters
  • 2 vests
  • 4 ponchos
  • 1 shawl
  • 5 skirts
Some of it is casual, a lot can cross over from casual to work, some is more dressed up.

I am not expecting to be able to use all of the items, first from a lack of number of days (I am going to do 7), and because a few are better fit for earlier in the season.

I am going to use this wardrobe for 7 days that I go to work. Sometimes I work from home and there are week-ends, so the 7 days will not be consecutive. I am allowing myself the addition of layering pieces (such as long sleeve T-shirts, blouses and tights). Outerwear is also separate.

I am excited, it looks like this will work. It will also bring some of my hand made outfits back into circulation, I have not worn some of them for some time.
