Teal blazer IX - Assembly and initial fitting
First, join the shoulder seams. Once that's done finish the neckline by picking up stitches all around the neck line and finishing it the same way we did for the open sides of the front panels.
Next pin the sleeve caps into the sleeve openings, starting by attaching the middle of the top of the sleeve cap to the shoulder seam. Then pin the sleeve seams shut as well as the side seams. This is a good time to try on the blazer to see if any adjustments are required.
In my case, bad surprise. The sleeves ended up being too snug around the biceps. I wanted more ease. No other solution than unraveling them down to the top of the hem and rework them. I counted how many stitches I needed to add around the biceps for proper ease. Then I recomputed the increases to reach that number of stitches. I also had to figure out a new game plan for shaping the sleeve cap. The sleeve caps of the original sleeves were perfect, so I did not want to mess up that shape. I decreased the extra stitches I now had at the underarm, in other words right at the beginning of shaping the sleeve cap.
At this point, my blazer may not look like much, but we still have some finishing to do!
