Spring break thrift haul

Today's the beginning of spring break for me. One thing I plan to do for fun is some sewing! I went fabric shopping at Goodwill. I had one or two projects in mind going in, but of course walked out with more than planned. Now that I sew, it is so liberating to go into a thrift store and not have to pay attention to the sizes. I grab clothing according to the fabric and pattern. I spent a total of nearly $20, for 5 skirts plus a summer night gown (not pictured, I am just going to use it as is).

Below is my high fashion show. I did get compliments while I was shopping on my boots. I did not have the heart to tell the lady that I had bought them at Walmart, in the little girls department last season. They are comfortable and versatile. Nothing wrong with shopping for little girls shoes at Walmart, but I like to let people dream.

I love polka dots. I know they came into fashion and by now probably went, but I don't really care. I intend to tailor this summer skirt to fit me, keeping the design.

The pattern and fabric on this skirt will work well for a modification I want to make to one of my summer dresses. I also like the skirt as it is. It fits right off the rack so until I get to that project, I may just wear it like that

I grabbed this skirt because I liked the wool plaid. It is soft and in good shape. I haven't decided what I am going to do with it yet.

One of the purposes I had stepping into the store was to find fabric to make wrap pants. I saw girls wearing some recently at an event and I liked them. I was looking for a flowy fabric with vertical lines. I found just the skirt (left). It has an interesting belt that I can probably salvage and reuse (at least the buckle).

I am going to try a two-tone design so I also grabbed a solid color skirt in a contrasting but matching color. I yet have to come up with the pattern. I need to do some research. I don't wear a lot of pants (as a matter of fact, outside lounge and sport wear, I don't wear any), so this is going to be a first. I have in the past turned pants and shorts into skirts.
